Cultural events throughout the year

The Culture Department of the Jewish Community runs a varied programme of events including concerts, readings, lectures and panel discussions. You are warmly invited to take part!

The Jewish Community first launched its culture work in the late 1980s and achieved its first highlight in 1989, with Marcel Reich-Ranicki’s Literaturforum. In the first three years, these literature evenings attracted some 20,000 guests, who also got to know the new Community Centre. The panel discussions helped turn the Jewish Community Centre into a meeting-point for all citizens of Frankfurt.

The spectrum of cultural activities has since grown steadily to provide a rich offering for people of all ages and backgrounds, from kids and families to young adults and seniors. In addition, collaborative projects with other City of Frankfurt cultural institutes — such as the Jewish Culture Weeks and Jewish Film Festival — have raised the profile of Jewish culture in all its diversity and genres. This year promises to be another exciting year, with a range of topical events, musical highlights and literary evenings lined up.
